Legalization of documents issued by the Sri Lankan Government and the French Government.
Applicants are required to submit original Sri Lankan documents authenticated by the consular division of Ministry of Foreign Relations, Sri Lanka within one-year period and the original French documents authenticated by The French Foreign Ministry in France. The documents which are not authenticated by The Ministry of Foreign Relations, Sri Lanka and The French Foreign Ministry in France will not be accepted for above purposes.

Required documents:
- Sri Lankan documents (Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Divorce Certificate etc..) which is legalized by the consular division of Ministry of Foreign Relations, Sri Lanka within one-year period.
- 123 Form (Applicant’s details)
- The Original Sri Lankan document
- Government fee €41 per legalization.
- French Export Document, which is legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in France.
- 123 Form (Applicant’s details)
- The Original Export document.
- Government fee €57per legalization.
- French documents (French Birth, French medical certificate etc…), which is legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in France.

The certificates (Birth certificate, Marriage certificate, Death Certificate, Result of Search) issued in Sri Lanka will be translated from Sinhala,Tamil or English into French on request made by the applicant.
Applicants are required to submit original Sri Lankan certificates authenticated by the consular division of Ministry of Foreign Relations, Sri Lanka within one-year period.
The Embassy doesn’t translate French Documents. We do translate French Police Clearance certificate and Naturalization certificate on Dual Citizenship purpose only.

Certifying the Signature of power of attorney, Affidavit, Documents to be counter signed and Consent letters
Sri Lankans and Sri Lankan dual citizenship holders with valid Sri Lankan passport and valid immigrant visa are eligible to sign a Power of Attorney, Affidavit, Documents to be counter signed and Consent letter in front of a consular officer in the Embassy of Sri Lanka Paris, France.

- Countersign and Affidavit
- Form 123 (Applicant’s details)
- The document on which the applicant wants her/his Signature to be certified.
- Original Sri Lankan valid passport and a photocopy
- Original Immigrant valid visa and a photocopy
- If the applicant is a dual holder, Original Dual Certificate and the Foreign Passport or the Sri Lankan passport which has mentioned that applicant is a dual nationality holder with a photocopy
- Government fee €64 per document.

- The Power of attorney document on which the applicant wants her/his Signature to be certified (in legal format)
- Original Sri Lankan valid passport of the applicant and a photocopy
- Original Immigrant valid visa of the applicant and a photocopy
- If the applicant is a dual holder, Original Dual Certificate and the Foreign Passport or the Sri Lankan passport which has mentioned that applicant is a dual nationality holder with a photocopy.
- two witnesses who are holding Sri Lankan Passport, immigrant visa or dual nationality Certificate and photocopies.
- Government fee €64 per document. (Applicants should have clear instructions from their lawyers in Sri Lanka on the number of copies required as each document is charged separately)

CERTIFICATION OF DRIVING LICENSE
The Embassy accepts applications to certify driving licenses issued by the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) in Sri Lanka. Applications are forwarded to the Department of Motor Traffic in Sri Lanka for certification. Once the verification is received it will be legalised and issued to the applicant.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
- Self Explanatory letter addressed to the DMT Commissioner with the reason for certification
- Original driving license with two photocopies
- Valid Sri Lankan Travel document
- National Identity Card
- Resident permit
- Relevant fee
If the applicant directly obtains verification from the Department of Motor Traffic, it should be attested by the Consular Division of the Ministry of External Affairs in Sri Lanka in order to be legalized by the Embassy.

- What is the procedure for obtaining a police clearance certificate?
-
- Any person who is a Sri Lankan citizen by descent or registration can apply for a police clearance certificate from the department of police in Sri Lanka for the period he she had lived in Sri Lanka through the embassy of Sri Lanka in Paris France.
- The embassy will forward this application to the department of police in Sri Lanka.
- Sri Lankan nationals living abroad may submit their request for a police clearance certificate directly to the Inspector-General of Police, Police Headquarters, Colombo 01, Sri Lanka or can apply through the official website www.police.lk. In such cases the Police Clearance Certificate would be sent directly to the applicant.

ATTESTATION OF PENSION RECEIPTS/ LIFE CERTIFICATE
Sri Lankan Pensioners living in France or accredited countries should present themselves personally at the Embassy or at Sri Lankan Honorary Consulates in Portugal or Spain in order to obtain life certificate or attestation for pension receipt.

- Pensioner's Identity Card issued by the Director, Department of Pensions in Colombo
REPATRIATION OF SRI LANKANS STRANDED OVERSEAS
Sri Lankan nationals stranded abroad are assisted by the Embassy to be repatriated to Sri Lanka.
